THREI Delegation visited Correctional Facility and Penitentiary Institution No. 4 of the Penitentiary Service

THREI Delegation, who are in Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva and National Preventive Mechanism Group (NPG) members of the Ombudsman conducted a visit to the Correctional Facility and Penitentiary Institution No. 4 of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan.

THREI Delegation and NPG members made a joint inspection inside the facilities. The guests were also informed in detail about the national experience in the Ombudsperson's relevant field and preventive activities.

The delegation got acquainted with the situation in both penitentiary facilities, including the state of protection of the rights of detainees.

This must be noted that preventive visits implemented in the frame of the cooperation with the THREI aimed at becoming familiar with the activity of the Azerbaijan Ombudsman as a national preventive mechanism.
