The Ombudsperson Opened New Office of South Regional Center

The opening ceremony of the Southern Regional Center of the Ombudsman was held in Masalli "ASAN Hayat" Complex with the participation of representatives of state institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations (CSOs).

Before the opening ceremony, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Masalli city and paid her respect to his dearest memory. The Alley of Martyrs was visited, and the memory of our servicemen who had fallen for the freedom and territorial integrity of our country was honored.

Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva made an opening speech, outlining the 20-year activity of the Ombudsman institution in Azerbaijan, which is being active in the protection of human rights, as well as increasing the country’s international image.

Ms. Aliyeva also pointed out that within the framework of the "Advanced judicial services and modern judicial infrastructure" Project, the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank jointly  supported the Ombudsman's Office to strengthen its institutional capabilities.

During the speech, it was mentioned that innovative e-services available in the South Regional Center will ease prompt consideration and on-site investigation of citizens’ appeals from Masalli and surrounding districts and expand the reception facilities of the Ombudsman and its high-rank officials.

Ms. Aliyeva, who informed about the material and technical facilities available in the New Office, said that it will be possible to hold video conferences with the Head Office, the Reception Center, and other Ombudsman’s Regional Centers. Drawing attention to volunteers, who will also assist citizens in the reception process, the Ombudsman added that the new office of the South Regional Center in Masalli "ASAN" Life Complex will provide an opportunity to resolve applicants' requests for documentation and many issues immediately.

The Ombudsman emphasized that all these activities are for ensuring citizen satisfaction as a core element of the state policy.

Later, the Head of the Executive Power of Masalli District, Mr. Araz Ahmadov, the Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Service to Citizens and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ASAN Service), Mr. Jeyhun Salmanov, and the President of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, Mr. Rauf Zeini, also spoke on behalf of civil society members.

Afterward, the participants familiarized themselves with the conditions created in the South Regional Center of the Ombudsman.

In the end, the Ombudsman held a meeting with representatives of state institutions and CSOs attended the event.
