A 2-day international seminar on the migration policy cycle was held within the framework of the “EU-funded MOBILAZE 2 Project on the Support the Implementation of the Mobility Partnership in Azerbaijan “.
In addition to local experts, international experts on migration from the Maastricht School of Management and UNU-MERIT also made presentations at the seminar, which was also attended by the staff member of the Ombudsman’s Office. At the seminar, experts presented the outcomes of the report on the study on migration policy experiences of the selected country.
At the event, Ms. Turan Jahangirova, a staff member of the Office of the Ombudsman, brought to the attention of the participants the Ombudsman’s recommendations on the formation of new concepts in various areas of human rights in the context of migration, and the effective implementation of monitoring and evaluation procedures, taking into account the experiences of a number of EU and Eastern Partnership countries in the field of migration. She informed the participants about the accomplishments of the Ombudsman Institution, which has been operating in Azerbaijan for 20 years, ensuring the rights of our compatriots abroad, along with foreigners and stateless persons in our country. Ms. Jahangirova noted the importance of considering the inclusion and special interests of migrant children, women, the elderly, and other migrants from other vulnerable groups when developing national migration strategies.
In the end, certificates were presented to the participants of the seminar.
