Some groups of the Ombudsman Institution participated in a training held in Lankaran city in the framework of the EU/CoE “Partnership for Good Governance Project II”. The civil society members, operating in the southern part of the country also took part in the training.
CoE international and national experts, also participants of the previous training gave talks during this regional training seminar on combatting discrimination and ensuring equality, organized for the staff of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institution and local civil society organizations.
Mr. Zaur Valimammadli, Head of the Department on International Organizations and Civil Society Institutions at the Ombudsman Office, and Ms. Angelo Longo, a representative of the CoE Anti-Discrimination Department spoke at the opening ceremony of the event.
The training participants were greeted on behalf of the Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva and informed about the joint activities carried out within the framework of cooperation. Also, the importance of training courses for trainers was emphasized.
The two-day training-seminar covered topics such as the notions of equality and non-discrimination, the ECHR case law, the best practices of other ombuds, gender-based discrimination, and identifying discrimination in education.
The training also exchanged views on the future implementation of knowledge and skills in practice.
