An awareness-raising meeting was held with the families seeking asylum in Azerbaijan

In cooperation with the State Migration Service, the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan held an awareness-raising event with the families seeking asylum on the eve of the 18 June – Human Rights Day, and 20 June- World Refugee Day.  

The event for refugees and asylum seekers was to learn the situation of protecting, ensuring the rights of foreigners in Azerbaijan at national and international levels, and studying their problems, as well as raising awareness.

Within the framework of the event, face-to-face meetings were organized with families seeking asylum in our country. It was noted the issues of engagement of migrant families to the development of the society, physical, mental, and moral development of migrant children, and protection of the rights to education and others were focused on.    

During the meeting, the provisions on the legal status of aliens and refugee status laid down in national and international legislation, their rights and freedoms, including the right to information. As part of the event,  educational materials in various languages were distributed to asylum seekers.   

In the event, the questions of the participants were answered.
