National Preventive Group of the Ombudsman conducted an unnoticed visit to the Ganja City Integrated boarding school.
The purpose of the visit was to investigate the general condition and treatment issues in the facility and monitor ensuring the rights of children educated in the facility.
During the visit, the NPG checked the health unit, rooms of psychologists and classrooms, library, food and inventory store, kitchen, canteen, sports hall of the gymnasium, as well as privately interviewed randomly picked up children, teachers, and health providers to assess the treatment standards and the general conditions in the educational facility.
During the monitoring, it was found that the vacant position for logopedist still remained open despite the speech impairments of 15 children, involved in special training, and there was a lack of correction and rehabilitation cabinets. These shortcomings were brought to the attention of the institution's management to eliminate them in terms of speech and physical development of children involved in special education in the gymnasium.
