Awareness events on ensuring the right of access to information in the context of human rights were held in Ismayilli and Gabala districts

The Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan organized the next awareness events on the protection of the right of access to information in the Ismayilli and Gabala districts. The awareness event was attended by the local executive bodies, law enforcement authorities, education bodies, and other information-holding authorities.  

Ms. Lamiya Zeynalova, head of the Department on Protection of the Right to Information at the Ombudsman Institution, and other staff members of the Office gave detailed information to the participants on the Ombudsman’s control mechanism over the implementation of the Law on Access to Information granted under the Constitutional Law on Ombudsman of Azerbaijan. In addition, the attendants were informed about the background, as well as existing international standards on the right to information.

Later, a relevant presentation was demonstrated, detailed information was provided on the responsibilities of information owners and the rights of applicants, as well as other provisions of the Law, an exchange of views took place and necessary recommendations were given.  

In the end, the participants were presented with educational booklets "Let's know our right to information" and "Let's ensure the right to information.
