Today a presentation ceremony of the Report, prepared on the findings of the onsite investigations conducted in Shusha and Aghdam cities of Azerbaijan by the delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsmen Association (OICOA), headed by the Turkish Chief Ombudsman ?eref Malkoç as a part of their visit to Azerbaijan on 14-16 September 2021.
Participating in this event, the Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva exchanged her views about the Report.
It was said that the primary goal of this Report was to promote the sharing by Armenia of the maps of minefields with Azerbaijan in order to facilitate the return of the people who fled from their native lands and raise the awareness of the international community regarding this issue and increase pressures. Furthermore, the Report is aimed at giving legal assessments of Armenia’s human rights violations committed during the 44-day Second Karabakh War.
During the presentation, it was noted that the destroyed historical and cultural monuments in the liberated areas were inspected as part of the on-site investigation. It was also added that the delegation got acquainted with the demining process by visiting the regions in Azerbaijan where hundreds of thousands of unexploded mines are located.
During the press conference, it was said that Armenia did not provide information about the fate of about 4,000 Azerbaijanis who went missing during the First Karabakh War. The mine problem remained a serious threat.
