The winner of the "Rise" Competition (Mentoring Program) had a meeting with the management of the "Visually Impaired People Society of Azerbaijan" Public Union

The winner of the “Rise” Competition, Ms. Leman Gafarzade, under the mentorship of the Ombudsperson Ms. Sabina Aliyeva had a meeting with the management of the “Visually Impaired People Society of Azerbaijan” (VIPS) Public Union as a part of the project on the rights of the people with disabilities.   

At the meeting, the sides discussed the activities undertaken to ensure the protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms based on the commitments declared by the UN CRPD, international treaties to which Azerbaijan consented to be bound, as well as the national legal framework. The recommendation provided by the mentee to prepare a tool for the visually impaired people in collaboration with the VIPS was welcomed.   

At the meeting, initiated by the Ombudsman, Mr. Mugalib Mahmudov, head of the Legal Education Unit at the Ombudsman Institution, Mr. Samyar Abdullayev, chair of the VIPS Public Union and Ms. Reyhan Jafarova, Deputy to Chair had discussions and exchanged views on various issues.
