According to the Annual Action Plan agreed between the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) Ombudsmen Association, the first training for the ombuds institution of the Member States was held by the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan.
The trainers during the online training dedicated to the topic “Protection of the Right of Access to Information: In Practice of Azerbaijani Ombudsman”, Zaur Valimammadli, head of the Department on Cooperation with International and Civil Society Organizations, and Lamiya Zeynalova, Head of the Department onDepartment on Protection of the Right to Information at the Ombudsman Institution.
The training covered the issues related to the role of the right to information in ensuring good governance, integration of the right to information to national and international legal documents, Ombudsman’s oversight mechanism in the implementation of this right.
The main purpose of such training is an exchange of relevant experience among the OIC Member ombuds institutions and before, the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution organized training seminar on the ombudsperson’s mandate and her activity during the Second Karabakh War.
