Ombudsman received the OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media

The Ombudsman Ms. Sabina Aliyeva received the OSCE Representative on Freedom of Media Ms. Teresa Ribeiro.

First, Ms. Aliyeva informed the guests about the multidimensional activities of the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan, areas of cooperation with international organizations, developments achieved within two years, as well as newly established departments and units.

Then the Ombudsman gave detailed information about the cooperation with various government agencies to address the problems and proposals made to find solutions to them. Ms. Aliyeva noted that in her last Annual Report, over 70 proposals were made to ensure the rights of various population groups.

It was said the Ombudsman holds public awareness events across the country, educational printed materials are distributed, as well as public appeals are made through the Ombudsman's social network platforms.

Also, the OSCE representative was informed about the unified and round-clock 916 Call Center.

Later, the guests were informed in detail about the Ombudsman’s oversight mechanism to ensure the right of access to information. They were presented with educational booklets "Let's know our right to information" and "Let's ensure the right to information."

During the meeting, it was noted that the Ombudsman Institution has organized various training and seminars to raise the awareness on how to better protect media freedom in Azerbaijan, protect the rights of journalists, and increase their professional training and legal knowledge.

In the end, the questions addressed to the Ombudsman were answered.
