Regional Centers of the Ombudsman held legal awareness events

The Ombudsman's Regional Centers in Ganja, Guba, Sheki, and Jalilabad held legal awareness events for various groups of the population.

The Ganja Regional Center organized a legal awareness training on "Fighting Discrimination" for the young people in the Office of the "Farah" Public Union, which unites children and young people with disabilities. During the training, it was reported that the Ombudsman kept the awareness-raising on how to counter discrimination under her spotlight, for that reason, the Ombudsman created effective cooperation with the Council of Europe Country Office and also outlined that fighting discrimination is one of the key directions in the CoE Action Plan for Azerbaijan for 2022-2025 years. The participants were presented with educational booklets dedicated to the relevant subject.

The Guba Regional Center organized awareness events entitled "The Role of Combating Discrimination in Ensuring Human Rights" in secondary schools No. 6 and 3 in Siyazan city. During those events, students were informed about national and international legal acts on human rights and non-discrimination. Furthermore,  they were informed about the experience of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institution in the relevant field, on how to apply to the ombuds institution, including its 916 Call Center. Then the questions of the participants were answered and they were provided with legal-educational printed materials.

The staff of the Sheki Regional Center launched awareness events entitled “Role of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan in the Protection of Human Rights” in the Sheki “ASAN service” Center, in Sheki, Gakh, and Oguz districts for the ASAN volunteers, employees of local executive and self-government bodies, residents, as well as family members of war martyrs, and veterans.  The attendants have been told about the national reforms implemented at the national level, role and activity directions of the Ombudsman in defending human rights, and application review procedures. The questions from participants were answered.

The Jalilabad Regional Center also held an educational event on “Fundamental Rights” at Lankaran Vocational High School. During the event, information was provided on international human rights legal documents, Constitution, and other national legislative acts, and the multifaceted activities of the Ombudsman Institution established as part of the legal reforms to ensure human rights and freedoms at the national level.
