Practical cooperation is being continued between the Azerbaijan Ombudsman Institution and Police Academy under the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of promotion of human rights.
As a part of this cooperation, the listeners were delivered lectures at the Police Academy on various topics of human rights, as well as the Ombudsman’s activities as a national preventive mechanism. The lectures are based on both theoretical knowledge and practical examples.
The next such lecture on the topic “Combatting corruption and commitments under relevant national and international legislation” was held for senior-level police officers of district-city police departments of the Ministry of International Affairs. The lectures were delivered by Mr. Rashid Rumzada, deputy head of the Chief of Staff of the Ombudsman Office, and Mr. Vugar Heydarov, head of the Department on Prevention of Torture at the Office.
The listeners have seen broad presentations on the information about the measures taken to fight against corruption at the national level and Ombudsman’s activities in the concerned area.
The lecture gave wide information about “The National Action Plan (NAP) on the Strengthening Fight against Corruption for 2022-2026 years” approved by the Presidential Order dated 04 April 2022. It was noted that along with other bodies, the Ombudsman Institution is also tasked to perform activities for the implementation of the NAP to improve the transparency of state bodies further, prevent causes of the corruption, further strengthen the accountability of state agencies before the public, further increasing and digitalizing the quality of the public services rendered to the population, as well as ensuring the sustainability of the anti-corruption measures.
The content of the lecture was based on the activities carried out currently and planned by the Ombudsman in defending the rights and freedoms. The questions raised by the listeners were answered.
