Ganja Regional Center held an online legal awareness-raising event on "UN Human Rights Protection Mechanisms"

Ombudsman’s Ganja Regional Center in collaboration with the Tovuz Youth House Social Service Institution held an online legal awareness event on “UN Human Rights Protection Mechanisms” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the UN-Azerbaijan partnership. The event was attended by active young people.  

At the event, the head of the Regional Center Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov said that Azerbaijan joined the UN family on 2 March 1992 and our Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations was established on 6 May 1992. He spoke about the actions taken at the national level after the membership of the UN, the established cooperative relations, and the international documents adopted. Furthermore, it was said that the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan and UN Country Representative established effective cooperation in the field of human rights.      

The participants were also informed about the UN Charter-based and Treaty-based bodies, individual or inter-state complaint procedures, and periodic review mechanisms for the assessment of the Member States. The raised questions were answered.
