Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an event on the prevention of violence against children

Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman in cooperation with the Lankaran Office of the State Committee for the Work with Religious Organizations held an event on the topic “Cases of Violence against Children and Effective Measures to Combat” at the Lankaran State Vocational High School.  The event was attended by representatives of these institutions, teaching staff, and students.

During his speech, the head of the Regional Center, Ziya Ismayilov said that every child has the right to personal immunity and protection from all forms of violence. The participants were also informed about the reforms implemented to eliminate violence, the existing relevant national and international legislation. It was given broad information on the effects of early marriage and related harmful traditions, and the importance of families, schools, and communities for the rights and future of children.

Furthermore, it was stated that the Ombudsman constantly keeps the issue of the legal assessment of acts of violence against children disseminated in the media and social networks in recent days, and conducts regular visits to child detention facilities within the mandate of the National Preventive Mechanism.

The other participants reported on the state policy in the field of child rights protection and stressed the importance of protecting them from religious radicalization and the significance of their physical and spiritual development.
