The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva participated in the 6th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ombudsmen Association held through videoconferencing.
At the Meeting, attended by the ombudspersons of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Marocco and Jibuti, the directions of future cooperation were discussed and the outcomes of the activities of the Association carried out last year were assessed. It was noted that human rights awareness events, organized by the Association for the staff of the Member Institutions’ were very useful for acquiring new skills and knowledge.
In her speech, the Ombudsman said that it is vital to accelerate the process of accepting new members and stressed the importance of awareness-raising training on economic and social rights, the right to access to information and the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities based on the exchange of experiences.
The Meeting continued its work with the discussion of the Workplan of the Association, determination of the venue, date and the agenda of the next Meeting of the Board of Directors.
