The Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva participated in the next online meeting of the Ombudsmen of the Turkic-Speaking Countries.
During the meeting, attended by the ombudspersons and national human rights institutions of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the Draft Statute of the Ombudsmen of the Turkic-Speaking Countries to be established was discussed and a number of suggestions were made.
During her speech, the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan stressed the importance of exchanges of experience to ensure the further improvement of the activity in the protection of human rights and freedoms. Ms. Aliyeva proposed creating a Working Group consisting of representatives of each Member State to ensure the fruitful discussion of the draft Statute and organizational work of the Association. This proposal was unanimously welcomed by all participants.
At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed to hold the next meeting of the Ombudsmen Association of the Turkic-Speaking Countries offline.
