A staff member of the Ombudsman spoke at the event on the rights of socially vulnerable groups

“The International Agency of Disabled People” Public Union organized a press conference about its new Project “Organization of medical, legal and psychological services for citizens belonging to socially-vulnerable groups”. The conference was attended by state bodies, local NGOs, media outlets, and public audiences.    

The Ombudsman Office was represented by Ms. Ayten Tarverdiyeva, Head of the Unit on Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, who gave broad information about the activity of the Ombudsman to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities.  

It was said that the Ombudsman analyzes the complaints on the violation of the rights of the PWDs and takes joint appropriate measures with state bodies, civil society organizations, and relevant international organizations to restore those violated rights. It was also stated that the Ombudsman and her National Preventive Group members investigate the general situation and needs of the PWDs during the monitoring in education, health, and social care institutions, and necessary recommendations were made to overcome the problems related to health and other issues.
