Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman held an event on the topic “Legal and Social Aspects of Fighting Discrimination”

Ganja Regional Center held together with Ganja House of Education Public Union a legal-awareness event on the topic "Legal and Social Aspects of Fighting Discrimination" with the participation of young people.

During his speech, the Head of the Ganja Regional Center Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov said that Ombudsman attaches great attention to raising awareness of the population about fighting discrimination as on other topics. He informed the participants about legal and social characteristics of discrimination, relevant UN, CoE, and EU anti-discrimination laws, including national legislation, as well as some of the ECtHR case laws on the prohibition of discrimination.     

Also, the participants were well informed about the relevant experience of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institution and the raised questions were answered. It was given information on the work of the Ombudsman’s Call Center 916 and the means to apply to the Ombudsman Institution during the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Besides, legal education tools prepared by the Ombudsman Office were disseminated among the participants.
