The Guba, Sheki, Ganja, and Jalilabad Regional Centers of the Ombudsman held a series of events on international Human Rights Day.
During the awareness-raising events held jointly with various organizations and with the participation of the general public, the participants were informed about the historical background of the international Human Rights Day and the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
At those events, the attendees were also informed about the accession of our State to numerous international human rights instruments after regaining independence, the improved national legislation, and the multifaceted activities of the Ombudsman in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms.
In addition, the next events held by the Regional Centers in this context were held within the framework of the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" Campaign.
During the campaign, the attendees were briefed on the inadmissibility of violence, which enunciated in our Constitution and other national normative legal acts, as well as in international documents by which our State is bound, including the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).
There have been discussions on actions taken to formulate relevant state policy and institutional reforms.
Furthermore, at the event, it was emphasized the importance of the participation of non-governmental organizations in the implementation of works in the concerned area.
The attendees were also informed about the important proposals put forward by the Ombudsman in this field, as well as the work of the 24-hour Call Center along with the relevant activities of the Ombudsman institution.
