On 3 December, the Azerbaijan Union of Disabled People’s Organization (UDPO) organized a conference entitled “Decent work for everyone – no one leave behind” with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers).
Mr. Davud Rehimli, UDPO President, Ms. Vladanka Andreyeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Ms. Christie Narine, Roving Ambassador of Finland for South Caucasus, and the representatives of other noted-above agencies took part in the conference.
At this event, the Ombudsman Institution was represented by Ms. Ayten Tariverdiyeva, Head of the Unit at the Institution. Ms. Tariverdiyeva informed the participants about the labor rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs), and directions of cooperation of the Ombudsman with the PWDs, outlining the formulated by the Ombudsman recommendations in relation to the social integration of the PWD and creating work opportunities and inclusive and favorable working environment by the employers, which were indicated in Ombudsman’s Annual Reports and requests to the corresponding state bodies. Furthermore, it was said that numerous recommendations of the Ombudsman were taken into consideration in “Employment Strategy of Azerbaijan for 2019-2030 years”, “Action Plan for Implementing the Employment Strategy for 2020-2025 years”, and in “General Collective Agreement between Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan and National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Azerbaijan for 2020-2022 years”.
At the end of the Conference, handcrafts of persons with disabilities were exhibited.
