As reported, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva announced Child Rights Month, running from 20 October-20 November across the country.
The Commissioner, in her relevant appeal, invites each stakeholder working in the field of ensuring, promoting, and protecting child rights to join this month-long campaign, as well as to provide their participation in these events following quarantine rules.
The Ombudsman office starts awareness-raising events to strengthen child rights education and further deepen the skills in the frame of this month-long campaign.
One such online training was organized for a group of students and teachers of the Sabunchu district of Baku. During the training, the staff of the Child Rights Protection Unit at the Office made presentations on the UN CRC and the Law of Azerbaijan on the Rights of the Child. They also gave detailed information to students about child protection from exploitation and discrimination, methods of combating violence against children, advert consequences of domestic violence and early marriages, children's internet safety. In addition, at the meeting information on the work done by the Ombudsman Institution in the field of protection and promotion of child rights, its 24 round clock Call Center 916 was brought to the attention.
During the interactive training, the children were particularly active and shared their views on the topics, and their questions were answered.
Within the framework of the month-long campaign, legal awareness training will be continued in Baku and across the country.
