The Bulgarian delegation visited Azerbaijan within the framework of international cooperation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, held its next meeting in the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).
ANAMA Chairman Mr. Vugar Suleymanov briefed the guests on the serious threat posed by the numerous mines planted by Armenia in territories of Azerbaijan, which were held under the occupation for many years. The main topics of discussion at the meeting were the adverse effects of landmines in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan for human health and construction works, mine explosions causing deaths and injuries. The sides also discussed the issue related to the failure of Armenia to provide accurate mine maps.
It was noted that Armenia pursues a policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, as well as mines prevent the return of IDPs to their liberated homeland.
It should be noted that the delegation will also conduct monitoring of areas where the mines were buried within the frame of their visit to Aghdam.
