The Human Rights Commissioner of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva participated in V All-Republican Forum of Children of Azerbaijan held by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs in cooperation with the “Regional Development” Public Union and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
The purpose of the Forum is to ensure the participation of children in decision-making process on their rights, to give them the opportunity to take the initiative and make suggestions, as well as to draw public attention to the protection of child rights.
Government officials and Forum participants held discussions on various topics.
Speaking at the event and answering children's questions, Ombudsman noted that the protection of child rights is one of the main directions of the Ombudsman's activities. She also added that one of the important recent developments in the Office is the establishment of the Child Rights Protection Unit and the Unified Call Center No. 916, where children can also apply.
S. Aliyeva also noted that this year, she visited the Summer School, holding under the motto "I want to be a leader" for the children participating in the Forum and expressed her satisfaction with that meeting.
The Ombudsman also informed the Forum participants about the month-long campaign titled "Child Rights Month" announced in the country on her initiative from October 20 to November 20, as well as the activities for the effective protection of child rights.
