An event was held dedicated to 18 November - the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse

As part of the "Child Rights Month" announced by the Azerbaijani Ombudsman, the Ombudsman Office held an online event dedicated to November 18 – the European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

During the awareness-raising event held with the participation of students and teachers at the schools of Binagadi and Nasimi Districts of Baku, as well as executive power office representatives, the staff of the Child Rights Protection Unit of the Office reported about violence against children and its types, domestic violence, early marriages, internet safety, protection of children against exploitation and abuse.

During the meeting, it was given information about the essence of this international Day, the measures taken at the international level, the existing international and national laws to prevent sexual abuse of children. It was also stressed the importance of the ratification of the Lanzarote Convention.

The participants were also informed about the activities of the Ombudsman in the field of protection of child rights, the purpose of the "Child Rights Month", and the related events held in the capital and regions.

It should be noted that awareness-raising activities carried out within the month-long campaign, covered more than 180 secondary schools in Baku and regions.
