The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Office in Azerbaijan launches a series of training in regions on the topic “Role of the Ombudsman in Promotion of Good Governance and Strengthening the Cooperation with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the Concerned Area” within the “Regional Program on Good Governance for Local Development in the South Caucasus” for the representatives of the staff of state bodies and CSOs.
Mr. Zaur Valimammadli, Head of the Department for Cooperation with International and Civil Society Organizations at the Ombudsman Office, Mr. Rashad Novruzov, Head of the Unit for Protection of Civil and Political Rights, and Ms. Aynur Hamidova, Head of the Unit on Access to Information, acted as expert-trainers in Sheki city, where the next training was held on 10-12 November.
In his opening speech, Z. Valimammadli greeted the participants on behalf of the Ombudsman and informed them about the topic of the training and its importance.
The presentations on features and importance of good governance, related international norms and principles, forms of alternative dispute resolution, application of mediation, the mandate of the Ombudsman and its impact on good governance, complaints and appeals procedure, business and human rights, and ensuring the right to information were made in the training, attended by the Ombudsman's Sheki Regional Center, local representations of relevant government agencies and CSOs.
Furthermore, practical experience was analyzed, and multiply questions of the participants were answered.
During the training, it was highlighted the importance of strengthening the relations between public bodies and CSOs in terms of good governance.
