An event was held with organizations working in the field of child rights within the framework of "Child Rights Month"

The Public Council under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs organized an online event within the framework of the "Child Rights Month-long" campaign announced by the Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva, covering the period from October 20 to November 20, 2021.

The purpose of the event was to discuss the current situation of the child rights protection in the country and to prepare relevant proposals.

Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Family, Women and Children, MP Nigar Arpadarai, representatives of the State Committee, UNICEF in Azerbaijan, the UN OHCHR in Azerbaijan reported about the general situation of child rights at the national level, as well as on the elimination of all forms of violence against children.

Furthermore, the Chairman and members of the Public Council spoke about the existing challenges they faced during their activities and made proposals on how to eliminate them.

In her speech at the event, Nigar Agayeva, Head of the Child Rights Protection Unit at Ombudsman Office, thanked the Council for organizing such an event considering the call of the Ombudsman related to this campaign. She stressed the importance of coordination between the various stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the UN CRC, the rights, and best interests of children.

N.Agayeva informed the Council about the Commissioner's visits to the families and children of the martyrs of the Patriotic War, awareness-raising activities carried out by the Ombudsman Office and its Regional Centers and visits to childinstitutions by the National Preventive Group. It was also given detailed information that the work done by the Commissioner for effective protection of child rights, issues raised against violence against children and the proposals put forward.
