Regional Centers of the Ombudsman organized events on the occasion of 12 November – Constitution Day of Azerbaijan.
In this regard, Ganja Regional Center arranged an online event titled “Constitutional guarantee of child rights”. The event, held with Gazakh City Department of Youth Development and Career Center, was attended by youth and students.
During the event, the Head of the Regional Center, Mr. Sabuhi Abbasov said that large-scale democratic and legal reforms have been started to be implemented since the adoption of the first Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the event, launched within the frame of the child rights monthlong campaign”, it was also added that the Azerbaijani Ombudsman deems important the cooperation among state agencies, international organizations, and local non-governmental organizations for the protection of rights and legal interests of children. In his speech, Mr. Abbasov spoke about the provisions and constitutional guarantees of child rights embedded in the national constitution.
Ombudsman’s Jalilabad Regional Center also held an event in connection with the Constitution Day in cooperation with the regional Department of Youth and Sports Department, as well as the Vocational Education Center. The event has brought together the employees of the state agencies mentioned above, teaching staff and students, along with the staff of the Regional Center.
At the event, the Head of the Jalilabad Regional Center, Mr. Ziya Ismayilov spoke about the social and legal essence of the First Constitution of independent Azerbaijan, its provisions, and historical background. Then, it was also reported about the Decree on Measures to Ensure Human and Civil Rights and Freedoms and the State Program for Protection of Human Rights, as well as the multifaceted activities of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman Institution in the field of protection of human rights and freedoms. The questions of the participants were answered.
As regards Constitution Day, Guba Regional Center of the Ombudsman organized a videoconference jointly with the Department of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations in Guba region. The representatives of the above-noted bodies, religious figures and community members took part in the online event.
Welcoming the participants on behalf of the Ombudsman, Head of the Guba Regional Center, Mr. Bahruz Efendiyev gave detailed information about the importance of our constitution, which marks its 26th anniversary today, and the rights and freedoms granted to our citizens by this supreme legislative act.
In the end, the questions of the participants were answered and a discussion was held on the topic.
