A study-visit has been organized to the Republic of Austria within the framework of the Twinning project "Strengthening the capacity of State bodies and local level referral mechanisms to provide safety and support to victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan" jointly implemented by the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children, the European Union, relevant bodies of Lithuania and Austria. The purpose of the visit was to exchange experiences on interagency cooperation in the field of domestic violence and gender-based violence.
Within the frames of the study visit the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by Ms. Ayten Tarverdiyeva, the Head of the Sector on Protection of rights of persons with disabilities of the Ombudsman Office. During the discussions, the experience of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman in the relevant field was shared with the participants.
During the visit, meetings were held at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights (LBI-GMR), NINLIL Association for empowerment and counseling for women with disabilities, the Vienna Women's Shelter, the Domestic Violence Intervention Centre Vienna, the Austrian Interior Ministry and the Office of the Ombudsman for Children and Youth.
The meetings focused on the activities of these organizations, as well as the exchange of experiences in the field of domestic violence.
