Ombudsman met with the Chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court of Bulgaria

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva met with Mr. Georgi Cholakov, the Chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court of Bulgaria.

At the meeting, the Azerbaijani Ombudsman briefed the facts of firing on civilians and civilian objects by Armenia in violation of international humanitarian law, during the 44-day Patriotic War. She provided information about the fact-finding activity conducted in conflict-affected areas. During the meeting, the fact-finding missions’ reports and other information were presented to the Chairman of the Court.

Furthermore, the Ombudsman stressed the importance of handing over the mine maps to ensure the return of IDPs to liberated territories, as well as raising the issue by the international community.

Later, during the meeting, the sides discussed the exchange of good practice in the judicial systems of Azerbaijan and Bulgaria.
