Members of the National Preventive Group of the Ombudsman visited Sheki mixed-type children home

On the instruction of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) visited Sheki Mixed-type Children’s Home.

The purpose of the visit, organized in accordance with the OPCAT and the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan, was to conditions of children of different ages living in the social institution, protection of their rights, and the treatment of them by the employees of the facility.

During the visit, the medical, recreation, bed, labor, game rooms, library, food storage, kitchen, dining room, gym, sanitary facilities, laundry were inspected and the existing conditions were monitored.

The administration of the institution, psychologists, and other staff members, as well as children, were interviewed in accordance with the quarantine rules to investigate the issues of treatment there.

In the end, appropriate recommendations were given to the administration and staff of the facility in accordance with the national legislation and international standards. Posters with the information about the 916 Call Center of Ombudsman were presented to the facility.
