Regional Centers of the Ombudsman commemorated the martyrs of the Patriotic War

As known, on September 27, which is marked as the Day of Remembrance for the first time this year, our people once again demonstrate deep respect and esteem for the eternal memory of our servicemen who heroically fallen during the Patriotic War.

On the instructions of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, commemorative ceremonies were organized by the regional centers of the Ombudsman on this occasion.

The staff of Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman continues to visit the families of our servicemen who became martyrs during the Second Karabakh War and always pays attention to their needs. They visited the families of martyrs of the 44-day Patriotic War - Amirli Tofig, Gasimzade Umid, Akbarov Ibarat, Salimov Sanan, Rustamli Kanan, Karimli Samad, and Isayev Rahat, inquired about their needs, laid flowers at the graves of the martyrs and paid tribute to their memory. They also visited the family of Salimov Mammad, a veteran of the Patriotic War, a resident of Taza Alvadi village of Masalli region.

In all meetings with the families of martyrs and war veterans, the head of the Regional Center reiterated that they are always under the focus of the Ombudsman and that they will continue to work to ensure their rights.

Further, the staff of Sheki Regional Center of the Ombudsman visited the families of our martyrs and war veterans as well. The employees of the Regional Center expressed condolences on behalf of the Ombudsman to the families of fallen Major Mammadov Khayal, ensign Mammadov Ibrahim, soldier Mammadov Alihuseyin, soldier Soltanli Shahmar and soldier Iskenderli Sabuhi on behalf of the Ombudsman.

During the meetings with war veterans of the Patriotic War Latifov Elvin, Adalatli Khayyam, Abdullayev Khayal, they were delivered the regards of the Commissioner and it was stressed that their glorious path of war strengthened the sense of patriotism among our youth.

In addition, on the eve of the Day of Remembrance, Sheki Regional Center in collaboration with the Heydar Aliyev Centers in Sheki, also Balakan, Gabala and Ismayilli districts held video conferences under the mottos "We owe you, Azerbaijani soldier" and “Our Youths are Basis of Our Victory ” with the participation of employees of enterprises, departments and organizations of those regions.

Speaking at a video conference, the head of the Regional Center said that on September 27, 2020, the Armenian armed forces once again carried out large-scale provocations and intensively fired on Azerbaijani military units and civilian settlements with large-caliber weapons, mortars, and artillery. He also said that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the brave Azerbaijani army launched a large-scale counter-offensive, liberating our lands, which had been occupied for about 30 years, as a result of the 44-day war.

It was stressed that the Ombudsman always surrounds by attention and care the families of our martyrs, as well as the participants of the Patriotic War. During the visits, the participants were informed about joint fact-finding missions conducted in collaboration with the delegations of the OIC Ombudsmen Association and OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, also about the statements and appeals addressed the international community.  

The parents of martyrs expressed their deep gratitude to the Ombudsman for her work to restore the rights of our citizens, and attention paid to the families of martyrs.
