The delegation led by the Chairman of the Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC IPHRC) continues its official visit to Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva.
During the fact-finding mission in Ganja, the members of the delegation, accompanied by Mr. Aydin Safikhanli, Head of the Ombudsman Office, who is also a member of the OIC IPHRC, visited residential buildings and other civilian objects, including historical and cultural monuments, destroyed by heavy artillery and rocket fire, as well as inspected large shopping centers and other public facilities also subjected to serious destructions.They prayed for the souls of the civilians who lost their lives and laid flowers at the ruins.
The members of the delegation, who got acquainted with the reconstruction work in the devastated areas and visited various parts of the city, including Victory Park, praised the rapid restoration works carried out.
As a result of the visit, a report will be developed on the results of the fact-finding mission carried out by the OIC IPHRC delegation on the human casualties and destructions caused by heavy artillery and rocket attacks by the Armenian armed forces in the densely populated second largest city of Azerbaijan - Ganja, will be presented to international organizations and the public.
It should be noted that after the fact-finding mission, a press conference was held in Ganja to evaluate the results of the monitoring carried out during the official visit of the delegation and to adopt the relevant statement.
