Regional Centers of the Ombudsman held training on drug addiction

The Regional Centers of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan held awareness-raising training on drug addiction based on the agreed Action Plan on " Awareness-raising activities in the fight against illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors". The purpose of those awareness events is to expand the enlightening among the public about this global problem.  

Ganja Regional Center organized videoconferences on “Addiction is a threat to humanity”, “Let's say no to the scourge of drugs”, “Drugs destroy” and "Let's say no to drugs and other bad habits” in Gazakh, Yevlakh, Tovuz, Ganja and Samukh districts with the participation of students and youth.

Similar pieces of training were held by the Jalilabad Regional Center of the Ombudsman in Astara, Jalilabad, Lerik, and Bilasuvar districts for the cultural and educational facilities. The events were about the topics on "The fight against drugs and drug trafficking is a struggle for the physical and mental health of every state, every nation," "Let's fight against drugs and drug trafficking together", "The fight against drugs is the moral duty of every citizen", and "Drug addiction is one of the problems of humanity". 

Sheki Regional Center of the Ombudsman held teleconferences with the participation of employees of departments and enterprises operating in Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Mingachevir cities, and regions, as well as youth on "Let's protect our youth from drugs", "Drug addiction is a scourge of mankind."

Guba Regional Center of the Ombudsman together with the departments and enterprises of Guba and Siyazan districts held awareness-raising events on "Fight against drugs and other harmful habits", "Stay away from bad habits", "Drugs are the scourge of our century", and "Fight against drugs is a guarantee of a healthy life."

It was noted at the event that the recent increase in alarming news about drug trafficking in our country makes it necessary to carry out extensive awareness-raising activities among young people on this issue. It was noted that the Ombudsman's Office is also taking necessary steps to increase awareness in the fight against drugs. The participants were informed about the normative-legal acts adopted in our country in this field, the measures taken to combat them, and the negative consequences caused by this harmful habit.
