Awareness-raising activities are underway as part of the "Child Rights Month"

Legal awareness-raising activities are underway within the framework of the “Child Rights Month” announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, running from October 20 to November 20, 2021.

The Unit on the Protection of Child Rights at the Ombudsman Office jointly with local executive authorities organized legal awareness training on the protection of child rights for schoolchildren and teachers from Sabail, Narimanov, Nizami, Garadagh, and Pirallahi districts of Baku.

During the training, students were informed about the existing legislation and means of legal protection on child rights, forms of discrimination and ways to deal with discrimination, protection of children from exploitation, abuse, neglect, and violence, early marriage, child labor, and protection from harmful influences.

In addition, students and teachers participating in the training were advised to contact the 916 Call Center No. 916 in case of violation of their rights.

The training was held in the form of a discussion with the active participation of children, their opinions were studied, questions of interest to children were answered.

These awareness-raising events contribute to the implementation of the “Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy for Children for 2020-2025” approved by the Presidential Order dated November 27, 2020, the “National Action Plan on combating domestic violence in Azerbaijan for 2020-2023”, as well as the State Program "Azerbaijani Youth in 2017-2021" and the "National Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Human Beings in Azerbaijan for 2020-2024", in which the Ombudsman's participation was recommended.

The training will be continued in the regions and districts of the capital city within the month-long campaign.
