The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan prepared a Report on the facts of torture of the Azerbaijani military servicemen by the Armenian armed forces

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva continues to inform the world community about the violations of international law and humanitarian law committed by the State of Armenia and its armed forces.

The Ombudsman has prepared the  report based on the materials obtained as a result of the collection and analysis of relevant evidence and proof within her mandate.

The report provides visual evidence of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment of Azerbaijani soldiers and servicemen captured by the Armenian armed forces during the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. It also includes not only facts of torture, inhuman and degrading treatment of captured servicemen but also factual evidence of mass burial of corpses of Azerbaijani servicemen for the purpose of concealing the facts of humiliation, mistreatment, and acts of vandalism and torture applied on the dead bodies.

The document called on the international organizations to take serious measures to bring Armenia to justice for its war crimes committed, and crimes against peace and humanity in gross violation of international law, and international humanitarian law.

The report was sent to international organizations, the ombudsmen of foreign countries, as well as other international organizations working on protecting and promoting human rights.

Due to the fact that the report contains confidential information (photographs), as well as difficult scenes that can have a profound effect on human psychology, it is not made public.
