One year has passed since Major-General Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev rose to the peak of martyrdom while preventing the provocation committed by the Armenian armed forces in Tovuz in July 2020.
On this occasion, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva paid tribute to the memory of the National Heroes of Azerbaijan, Major General Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev.
The commemoration ceremony was attended by family members of the martyrs, comrades-in-arms, veterans of the Patriotic War and community members. During the ceremony, comrades-in-arms of General Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev spoke about their glorious path and memoriesabout them.
In an interview with the media, Ombudsman S. Aliyeva said that the memory of our martyrs will never be forgotten, will always live in the hearts of every Azerbaijani, and will be remembered with pride.
Later, the Ombudsman visited the unveiling ceremony of a bust of Major General Polad Hashimov in Sumgayit, as well as a bas-relief on the street named after him in order to perpetuate the name of our martyr. During the event, S. Aliyeva noted that our youth will follow the glorious path of Major General Polad Hashimov and their bravery.
