TIHEK continued its Fact-Finding Mission to Tartar district

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Aliyeva, and members of the TIHEK delegation led by the Chairman of the organization Mr. Suleyman Arslan carried out a Fact-Finding Mission to Tartar district, the one most affected by the fire of the Armenian armed forces during the war.

During the visit, the Delegation Members got acquainted with and were informed in detail about the facts of shelling of settlements during the 44-day war in violation of international humanitarian law.

First, the cotton plant in Tartar, which was hit by Smerch missiles by the Armenian armed forces was inspected. The Delegation also visited the Tartar city cemetery and was informed about the fact that four civilians were killed and several were injured as a result of the firing on the area during the funeral. Afterward, the monitoring was carried out at seriously damaged civilian objects where there were casualties as a result of heavy artillery and rocket attacks.

During the on-site investigations, the TIHEK collected the necessary information and evidence to prepare a report to be sent to international organizations as a result of the official visit.
