An awareness-raising event dedicated to the right to information was held in Sumgayit

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has organized another legal awareness-raising event on the protection of the right to information at the Sumgayit city Heydar Aliyev Center.

The event was attended by representatives of the Sumgayit City Executive Power, Police Department, Education Department, Sumgayit City Department of the State Social Protection Fund, and other state agencies and local self-government bodies.

L.Zeynalova, Head of the Department for Protection of the Right to Information at the Ombudsman Office, and Farman Kazimov, Deputy Head of the Department for Socio-Political and Humanitarian Affairs of the Sumgayit City Executive Power Office delivered speeches at the event.

In her speech, a representative of the Ombudsman Institution briefed the activities of the Ombudsman to oversight over the implementation of obligations arising from the Law "On Access to Information” by state bodies, local self-government bodies, and state officials ", to ensure and promote the right to information. It was also added that the Office investigates relevant incoming appeals, and conducts monitoring and analyses in the concerned area.
