Ombudsman participated in the preparatory hearing of the case of two members of the armed forces of Armenia

Today the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ms. Sabina Aliyeva participated in the preparatory hearing of the two members of the armed group of Armenia accused of crimes against peace and humanity against Azerbaijanis, hostage-taking, and torturing persons protected under the IHL in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

Along with the Ombudsman, the representatives of civil society and media also attended the preparatory hearing held in the administrative building of Yasamal District Court under the chair of Mr. Elbay Allahverdiyev, the judge of Baku Military Court.

The Ombudsman has conducted several visits to the place of deprivation of liberty, where the armed group members were held in order to investigate their detention conditions and the situation with ensuring their rights and issued special reports in this regard, which were sent to relevant international human rights organizations.
