Staff members of the Ombudsman Office conducted on-site investigation with regard to the explosion in Khirdalan

By the instructions of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva, the staff members of the Ombudsman Office conducted an on-site investigation into the case of gas explosion occurred in the evening hours of January 25, 2021, in Khirdalan city.    

It was found out that the explosion in the two-floored house occurred due to a gas leak. As a result, Ayten Musayeva (b.1988) and her daughter Fatima Musayeva (b.2012) died under rubble. Vusal Musayev, A.Musayeva’s husband and their children Firudin Musayev (b.2009), as well as Khadija Skukurzade (b.2006) got various body injuries.

The Ombudsman’s staff members visited the Republic Clinical Hospital named after an academician M.Mirgasimov and inquired about the health status of F. Musayev and Kh. Shukurzade, who were being treated in the Resuscitation Department. At present, the treatment of those persons is being continued. Also, Allazova Samaya, being treated outpatient, was released home.    

While inspecting the area subjected to the explosion, it was found that another four inhabitants of the next apartment got various body injuries; they were provided medical aid on the spot. The explosion caused damages to the five-floored apartment, private house, trade facilities, as well as vehicles located nearby.   

This issue is in the focus of the Ombudsman.
