In accordance with Article 14 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan", the Ombudsman's 2020 Annual Report on the protection of human rights in the country was prepared.
According to the Constitutional Law, no later than 2 months after the end of the present year, the Ombudsman presents the annual report to the President and reports before the Parliament.
The annual report is also presented to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court and the Prosecutor General.
The report of the Commissioner was presented to the country President on February 25, 2021, in accordance with the Constitutional Law and also sent to the relevant government agencies.
The Ombudsman’s Report provides information about the activities of the Ombudsman in the restoration of human rights and freedoms, enshrined in the Constitution of Azerbaijan and international treaties acceded by the State, which violated by state and local self-government bodies, and state officials, as well as preventive measures, accomplishments in the field of legal enlightenment and scientific-analytical work, cooperation with the public and civil society institutions, international relations, also the proposals and recommendations made for more effective protection of human and civil rights and freedoms.
After hearing the report in the Parliament, it will be publicly available.
