Representatives of Ombudsman Office conducted visits to social establishments

Upon the instruction of the Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, deputy head of a department of the Office Vafa Verdiyeva and physician staff member Aflatun Bakhishov carried out visits to Social shelter for persons above 18 years old, Social shelter and rehabilitation center for minors, Rehabilitation center for visually impaired minors of the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population.

The visits were aimed at monitoring the living conditions of residents of establishments and treatment by staff members towards them, also the status of ensuring human rights, including the children’s rights.

Within the visits, representatives of the Ombudsman held monitoring in all the objects of those three establishments, including residential corps, bedroom, classroom, medical and sport rooms, work room, canteen, kitchen and common space.

In order to investigate the treatment issues, the residents, including children residing in these establishments, administration of the institution, doctors, teachers and medical staff were interviewed, thus existing situation was monitored.

It was determined that conditions of living and treatment issues are satisfactory in the establishments.

At the end of the visits, representatives of the Office held awareness raising discussions with the residents and staff of those establishments in accordance with national and international legislation, also the Constitutional Law on the Ombudsman. Administration of facilities were given relevant recommendations for increasing attention to realizing and ensuring human rights, also further improving the service conditions.
