The visits are continued by the National Preventive Group

In accordance with the instructions of the Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva, the National Preventive Group (NPG) carried out the next visit without prior notification. The aim of the visit, in which a specialized medical member of the NPG also participated, is to monitor the treatment of detained persons, the conditions of detention in the facility, and the protection of the rights of the accused.

During the visit, Qaqik Voskanyan, a member of the terror-sabotage group of the Armenian Armed Forces that illegally crossed the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border on August 16 of this year with the intention of committing acts of terror, was received. The conditions of detention of this accused person, the treatment of him, his accessibility to medical services, and other issues in accordance with the mandate of the National Preventive Mechanism were investigated, along with the assurance of his rights under international and national legal frameworks.

The aforementioned person expressed his content with his conditions of detention, treatment, and medical services.

The person with whom the confidential conversation is conducted is provided with information about his rights, the Ombudsman's competences, and international instruments related to human rights in his own language.
