The public awareness event was organized in Sabunchu Cultural Center in Nardaran by secondary schools No. 295, 130, and 142 within the "Speak Up, Be Heard!" Project run in collaboration by the Sabunchu District Executive Authority, the Baku City Education Department, the Ombudsman Office of Azerbaijan, and the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children's Affairs.
The event, first, has started with an exhibition of artworks and wall newspapers on various topics made by students. Afterwards, the students presented a video clip and performances on domestic violence, child marriage, issues related to truancy, and consanguine marriages and their negative consequences. They also recited poems and sang songs.
During the event, Mughalib Mahmudov, the Head of the Legal Education Unit at the Ombudsman Office, delivered a speech about the Ombudsman’s commitment to protecting the rights of women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups, as well as the activities about combating violence, ensuring gender equality and the-round-the-clock 916 Call Center, addressing various legal violations.
In conclusion, the active participants and directors in the "Speak Up, Be Heard!" Project were awarded diplomas and gifts.
