The Regional Centers of the Ombudsman held commemorative events dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide

The Regional Centers of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan in Ganja, Sheki, Guba, and Jalilabad have launched a series of online commemorative events dedicated to the 29^th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. Those online events have brought together various stakeholders from the regional cities.

The participants of those events have been enlightened about the Khojaly massacre committed in 1992 by Armenian occupant armed forces and details of this crime resulted in massive loss of human beings mercilessly killed. During the commemorative events, this was noted that continuous steps were taken to convey the truth about Khojaly to the world, to spread it in the international arena, as well as to give an objective assessment of this genocide. The attendees also have been informed about the specific activities of the Ombudsman towards enlightening the international community about this gravest crime, including organization of series commemorative online events, statements made in connection with this criminal act.

It was also spoken about the 44-day Patriotic War resulted in the victory of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fighting for the liberation of the occupied by Armenia lands. The necessity of criminal liability of the perpetrators and punishment for gross violations of human rights under international law were also highlighted during the meetings.
