The Sheki, Ganja and Guba regional centers of the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan organized video conferences on the occasion of December 31 - the Solidarity Day of World Azerbaijanis with the participation of various agencies of the districts they cover.
In that vein, the Ombudsman’s Sheki Regional Center in cooperation with the Heydar Aliyev Center of Sheki district held a video conference on the theme “Philosophy of statehood, solidarity, and victory of national leader Heydar Aliyev” with the participation of institutions, departments, and organizations of Gakh, Zagatala, and Sheki regions, with the participation of ASAN Volunteers.
The Ombudsman’s Guba Regional Center in mutual coordination with the Guba History and Ethnography Museum of the Khachmaz Regional Culture Department met in a virtual format for the meeting dedicated to Solidarity Day.
The Ombudsman’s Ganja Regional Center, Yevlakh District Heydar Aliyev Center and Youth and Sports Department together have hosted an online event dedicated to the victory in the Patriotic War and the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day on the topic “From Solidarity to Victories!”.
During these online meetings, the heads of the Ombudsman’s regional centers informed the participants about the historical background and significance of the solidarity of Azerbaijanis, and underlined that this was the main reason for the victory during the 44-day war.
The participants were also kept informed about the Ombudsman’s activities during the COVID-19 pandemic and martial law. It was noted that this year, the Ombudsman, carrying out the varied activities in the field of protection of human rights, made various proposals to the relevant agencies, focusing on the protection of the rights and freedoms of different types of population.
Along with this, participants were informed about various statements and appeals by the Ombudsman addressed to international organizations during the war in order to inform the world community. It was also noted that the Ombudsman conducted fact-finding missions in Naftalan, Tartar, Ganja, and Barda in connection with the loss of human lives and damage caused to civilian objects by Armenia as a result of indiscriminate attacks, which were reflected in various relevant reports that sent to international organizations. It was noted that the crimes committed by Armenia as a result of targeting the civilian population, killing many civilians, including children and women, firing on historical, cultural and religious monuments and cemeteries with prohibited weapons have been reasonably proved based on objective and real facts.
At the same time, it was noted that the Ombudsman held regular meetings with the families of veterans and martyrs of the Patriotic War, studied their problems and that a Project of psychological assistance to war victims being successfully implemented.
