The murder case of the minor in Tovuz district is in focus of the Commissioner

The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva instructed the staff of the Ombudsman’s Ganja Regional Center to investigate the information spread through the media on discovering the burned body of Guliyeva Nermin Sherif gizi, a resident of Tovuz district born in 2010, in a vacant lot in the village of Dondar Gushchu and concerning the possibility of acts of violence committed against the child. The staff members of the Regional Center visited the district, where the incident occurred, and met with the parents and relatives of the victim.

Parents and relatives of the victim asked the Commissioner to help to investigate the case promptly and comprehensively taking control over the issue and to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.

The Commissioner immediately reacted to the issue which caused serious concerns in the society and addressed the Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Azerbaijan on this case. The appeal reflected issues concerning the investigation of the case taking into account the facts and possibility of acts of violence stated in the abovementioned request, appointing the necessary forensic expertise and to inform her about the findings.

The Commissioner calls the media to take into consideration the psychology of people, including children and to demonstrate sensitivity while disseminating the news of similar content.
