Ombudsman launched the events in the frame of International Day of Peace and National Day of Knowledge

The Commissioner paid two-day visit to Fuzuli District and the liberated from occupation, Jojug Merjanli village of Jebrayil District, on the occasion of 21 September, “International Day of Peace” and due to 15 September, the National Day of Knowledge.  She launched several visits and organized a number of events there.

At the beginning of her trip to Fuzuli District, the Commissioner and Head of the Executive Power, Mr. Alı Alıyev visited the Memorial of April Martyrs in Horadiz.

In the course of this visit, the Commissioner participated in the event in the kindergarten in ‘Qayidish” refugee settlement, which was based and equipped on her initiative. This visit was occurred on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of this pre-school facility, where the Ombudsman met with children, their parents and the staff.  

In her speech, E. Suleymanova especially highlighted the work of this kindergarten, which did not stop working in hard conditions in the refugee camp.  She also appreciated the dedication of the staff during those difficult years. At the meeting with residents, they said that the Commissioner was always nearby them in the IDP camps in the difficult times, and that she was always helping to resolve their problems regarding nutrition, health and employment.

Then, the Commissioner had a visit to Fuzuli District Hospital located in Zobujug settlement. E. Suleymanova was acquainted with general condition of the hospital, including operation unit, gynecology and other departments, as well as quality of health service, nutrition and treatment of health providers in the hospital. Then she met with patients in the wards in person to learn their problems and basic needs.  Furthermore, the Ombudsman had an awareness talk with the staff of the hospital about ensuring patient’s rights.

The Commissioner also visited secondary education facilities in Fuzuli, as well as a village school and a kindergarten in Jojug Merjanli. She met there with the teaching staff, schoolchildren, parents and inhabitants. E. Suleymanova gave her recommendations to the administration of these facilities on how to improve the protection of child rights.  

In general, the Commissioner, who got acquainted with conditions created for teaching in educational institutions, has provided the school library with necessary books and modern technical equipment.

Further, E. Suleymanova visited the military servicemen in the military unit “X” located in the front line. She monitored the canteen, kitchen and health unit of the facility. Afterwards, the Ombudsman made a motivational speech before the military servicemen about military success during Horadiz military operation in 1994 as well as April clashes in 2016. Ombudsman said that she believed the occupied territories of Azerbaijan will be liberated; refugees and IDPs will return to their lands and participate in the restoration processes there.

Furthermore, Ombudsman visited the mosque in Jojug Merjanli, built like Shusha Mosque, which is currently located in the territories under the occupation. Also, E. Suleymanova visited the family of Haziyevs’ that has been living in this settlement since 1994. 

Within the framework of the visit, citizens appealed to the Ombudsman have been received and the majority of the issues, they raised have been resolved.
