Child Rights Month-long campaign starts

As it’s known, this year the 30^th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is celebrated. To ensure the implementation of this necessary document several events have been held in our country in the field of protection and promotion of the rights of the child. Important reforms are realized in economic, social, cultural, legal and other areas.

This year the annual Child Rights Month-long campaign will be announced in Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Commissioner during October 20 - November 20 on the eve of the adoption of the CRC.  The purpose of the month-long campaign is to increase attention to children, to improve the status of implementation of the rights of the child.

Different events, roundtables, training-seminars are organized based on the applications addressed to central and local executive bodies, non-governmental organizations, mass media and communities within the framework of this month-long campaign. Schools, child facilities conduct awareness raising events, competitions and exhibitions serving to effectively ensuring and promoting children’s rights, as well as their inclusiveness and participation.

It is also known that the Council of Europe (CoE) marks November 18 as the European day on the Protection of Children from Sexual exploitation and Sexual abuse. The CoE has called the member states to carry out relevant events, programs and other initiatives.

It should be noted that the issues related to elimination of all forms of violence against children will be discussed in the events within the month-long campaign.
